Cable Knitting Pattern

Hi Everyone!!

Here I am again, giving you free knitting patterns. This time I will give you a very classic and common pattern, "The Cable". This pattern is really good for a scarf, pullover or even a beanie. But for the beginning, I will give you the pattern for scarf. This is the simplest way to try a new pattern, before you go to the next level - knitting a beanie and pullover.

Oh my God, I keep saying the word "pullover". I just check the google translate, Pullover is "sweater" in English :p

To make this pattern, you need a "cable stitch holder", from now on, let's call it "needle helper" :)

Make sure you already have it before you start knitting. This is how it looked...

Let's get started...

Skill Level : Hard

1. Number of stitches: 40 (if you wish to make a narrower scarf, you can do it with 28 nos. of stitches. I will give the pattern on my next post)

2. The Formula:

- Row 1 :  k40

- Row 2 :  k5, p6, k5, p8, k5, p6, k5

- Row 3 :  k40 (same as row 1)

- Row 4 : k5, p6, k5, p8, k5, p6, k5 (same as row 2)

- Row 5 : k40 (same as row 1)

- Row 6 : k5, p6, k5, p8, k5, p6, k5 (same as row 2)

- Row 7 : k40 (same as row 1)

- Row 8 : k5, p6, k5, p8, k5, p6, k5 (same as row 2)

- Row 9 : (attention!!) ^^

k5,
sl3 (slip 3 stitches to the "needle helper", then put it to the backpict. 1)
k3 - pict. 2,
(move to the "needle helper") k3 - pict. 3, 4, and 5

the "needle helper")

the first "needle helper" and continue the stitching)

3. After you finish the row 9, start over from row 2, and then repeat until the desire length.

(Attention: From the second set, don't start from row 1! Always start from row 2)

I know this pattern seems a bit harder and more complicated. But after you did 5 sets, you will get used to it and you don't need to read the pattern again. If you want to stop knitting it and continue tomorrow, better stop until you finish the row 9, so you won't forget in which row did you stop.

I did a scarf for my husband with this pattern. This pattern is suitable for feminin and masculin. This is my cable scarf...
